Roundhouse
Roundhouse
By Cody Kuehl
Roundhouse is a deeply expressive, luminous, and visually dynamic 17x13in. multi-layered 3D work by artist Cody Kuehl. Constructed from printed plexiglass panels bolted together with exposed corner hardware, this high-octane composition captures a gunslinger mid-spin in the heart of a dusty Western town shootout. The piece transforms classic action narrative tropes into a complex and celebratory contemporary pop-art masterpiece.
Kuehl displays a masterly control of spatial depth, line weight, and graphic storytelling. By layering printed plexiglass sheets, the central, dual-wielding figure bursts forward from the detailed background, casting real shadows onto the saloon-lined street and surrounding gunmen behind him. Bold comic-style ink contours, vivid blue and terracotta tones, and energetic splashes of orange and red gunfire flare across the clear panels, giving the action physical dimension and constant kinetic movement. It is a captivating statement piece that effortlessly bridges classic Western gunfighter lore with modern, graphic 3D construction.
