Gentle Winds
Gentle Winds
By Rebekah Griffith
Gentle Winds is a deeply vibrant, evocative, and visually captivating 24x24in. oil painting on canvas by artist Rebekah Griffith. This square autumn landscape captures a dense grove of slender aspen trees reaching toward a clear blue sky, their golden leaves shivering in a soft mountain breeze. The piece transforms a classic high-country forest scene into a complex and celebratory contemporary masterwork.
Griffith displays an extraordinary command of palette knife technique and rich textural layering. Slender, silver-white tree trunks weave rhythmically across the canvas, their bark textured with expressive impasto strokes of chalky grey, violet, and pale yellow. Beneath a soft periwinkle sky, brilliant canopies of vibrant canary yellow and amber foliage clash dynamically against an understory glowing in fiery orange, magenta, and deep crimson tones. Housed in a gold-painted wooden floater frame with a dark interior recess, this commanding statement piece effortlessly bridges traditional Western autumn landscapes with modern, color-driven Impressionism.
