The Good Is Not Forgotten
The Good Is Not Forgotten
By Rebekah Griffith
The Good Is Not Forgotten is a deeply soulful, magnetic, and visually narrative 20x30in. oil painting on canvas by artist Rebekah Griffith. This horizontal figurative Western scene depicts a rider astride a spirited horse moving across an open pasture, set against a distant cattle line and a wide prairie sky anchored by billowing clouds. The piece transforms a timeless moment of ranch life into a complex and celebratory contemporary masterwork.
Griffith displays a masterly command of palette knife application and textural layering, carving out motion with sculptural impasto. The horse and rider are rendered with loose, expressive strokes—the rider’s light blue shirt and dark hat catching crisp light while the horse kicks up dust against fields of mossy green, ochre, and warm earth tones. Behind them, a sweeping horizon stretches beneath a cerulean sky with soft pink-tinged clouds, punctuated by a bold flash of crimson along the lower edge of the canvas. Housed in an artist-built, gold-painted wooden floater frame, this commanding statement piece effortlessly bridges traditional Western ranch themes with modern, texture-driven Impressionism.
