Robert Bell
Robert Bell is a figurative and abstract artist whose technical foundation is a sophisticated synthesis of Eastern influence, Graphic Design precision, and experimental studio practice. A graduate of Colorado State University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Bell’s process is defined by an "artist-first" layering of past experience in drawing, multimedia, and commercial mural work. His work is characterized by an intentional visual friction; he utilizes a designer’s eye for composition to anchor expressive, atmospheric portraits and native landscapes. By merging the disciplined structure of his BFA background with the fluid, "original magical" energy of abstract painting, Bell creates a substantial presence on the canvas that functions as both a cultural witness and a modern exploration of the human form. Since his return to the Denver art scene, his work has evolved into a vibrant, multi-media narrative that balances traditional figurative subjects with a contemporary, high-energy aesthetic.
